Bowie Community Development Board's Mission is to assist revitalization and historic preservation through community participation and collaborative partnerships, to create a thriving Bowie, Texas. To accomplish this mission, BCDB engages in activities to enhance organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring.
BCDB's Vision is a revitalized, active, and historically preserved city with a healthy mix of retail, business, residential, civic, cultural, and entertainment activities.
To accomplish the goal of revitalization, we utilizes a four-point approach:
- Economic restructuring – Strengthening the local economy by enlarging the customer base and the improvement of skills within existing businesses and recruitment of new businesses to serve market needs (this committee encourages investment in downtown buildings and businesses)
- Design – Encouraging quality design improvements through renovation and restoration of historic buildings as well as streetscape enhancements and compatible new construction
- Organization – Bringing people, organizations, and resources together to work for the betterment of downtown and the community in its entirety
- Promotion – The employment of special events, festivals, and public relations to promote downtown Bowie and its businesses
