The City of Bowie Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C misdemeanors issued by the city's police officers, code enforcement officers, animal control officers, and the fire marshal. Examples of Class C misdemeanors include speeding, disorderly conduct, disruption of class, minor in possession of tobacco, minor in possession of alcohol, animal at large, and other similar offenses.

The court is to provide professional court proceedings that follow all applicable laws and ensure the rights of all persons are observed. The responsibilities of the court clerk’s office include processing the clerical work, setting trial dockets, collecting court fines and fees, maintaining court records, and performing administrative duties delegated by the Municipal Court judge.
