1. Why does the water sometimes smell or taste like bleach?

To ensure proper disinfection of the water mains / lines in town we sometimes have to do what is called a burn out. That means that we stop using chloramines and use chlorine for a short time. This can give the water a bleach smell or taste, but it is not harmful in anyway.

2. Do we reuse the wastewater and send it back to town?

We do have a reuse program in place, but none of the water goes back to town. At this time, 99% of the water is used by the oilfield industry.

3. How much water do we treat each day?

At the water treatment plant we treat on average about 1.2 million gallons a day. At the wastewater plant we treat on average 650,000 to 700,000 gallons a day.
